You can’t really label Marcus Schossow. You can call him a DJ, you can call him a producer and most definitely you can call him an Artist with a capital a. The Schossow sound isn’t really house as we know it. It isn’t trance either. It’s filthy, groovy and filled with catchy riffs and anthemic sounds – call it trouse, call it Schossow sound. He shines at whatever he throws his hand to, and whether that’s performing to thousands or producing for the masses, he’s on a mission to reinvent dance music as we know it.
Being consecutively voted most popular Nordic DJ since 2008, he has also cemented his spot in the desired DJ Mag Top 100.
His rise in the scene and establishing his place in the eyes of EDM scene started with his 2007 smash track Mr White. Fusing futuristic techno, with filthy house and a subtle smattering of trance, his sound automatically became appealing to a whole host of DJ’s and music fans alike.
Ever since he has single handedly created something that the modern producers thrive for – a distinguished and recognizable, unique sound. He can team up with heroes of house or trance to create massive tracks. He can go solo and do filthy electronica or mental dubstep. He can create movements with his anthems.
That is exactly what Marcus is doing now – he is the front man of the trouse movement. A new elite set of young DJ’s and producers with dance floors around the world clamoring for his infectious presence and prodigious mixing. Combining the best of arena house and big room trance, Marcus was invited to host his Tone Diary Recordings under world-renowned dutch Spinnin’ Records. The label gets frequent support from names from the A list including Tiesto, Swedish House Mafia, Sander Van Doorn, Above & Beyond, Armin Van Buuren, Ferry Corsten, Pete Tong and Judge Jules – underlining Marcus’ increasing influence in the world of dance.
It’s not just his ability as a producer that screams “watch this person”. His persona on and off stage, whether face to face or online, makes Schossow in demand around the world. The East and the West, the North and the South are all calling out for gaps in his fast filling touring diary.
In the short time Marcus has already clocked up some of the biggest gigs in the calendar. With Street Parade, Trance Energy, Dance Valley, Godskitchen, Creamfields, Monster Massive, Together As One, Love Festival, Ministry Of Sound, Sunrise Festival and Street Parade under his belt it’s easy to understand this youngster is moving masses with his sound.
With Tone Diary, Marcus’ acclaimed radio show airing on Area (Sirius/XM) and various internet radios; the sound of Schossow travels even further. Setting the airwaves ablaze, he reaches those not lucky enough to have caught him live, and reminds those who have seen him live why they’ll have to check him out again.
It’s almost frightening to notice that Marcus Schossow is just in his mid twenties. Just starting a future prosperous musical career. More beckons as 2011 propels Marcus Schossow further cementing him into the international electronic landscape.
