Description
Comrades, join us as we celebrate May Day with a glorious musical revolution; painting 1015 red and tearing down the walls of convention, genre limitations, and self-imposed restriction. In honor of a forgotten worldview and a recently gone, yet quickly forgotten age, 1015 will bring back the cold war decor and style of the socialist East, even as we present the most progressive and groundbreaking artists of the decadent West. The Red Party features Evil 9, the UK Breakbeat duo who have merged dance beats, punk, funk, and hip hop and Mike Relm, the San Francisco chameleon who has turned the art of turntablism into a theatre for interactive film, and performance art.

Tom "Is this a good look for me?" Beaufoy and Pat "Yes, you look great!" Pardy accidentally became Evil Nine back in 1998 and were stumbled upon as geniuses by Adam Freeland who wept at their awesome magnificence and pure, effortless talent. Their bad attitude and rudeness, epitomized by their remix of "Everything I Fuckin' Do" by Bryan Adams, has really stirred up the one legged christian rap sailor scene. Their love of innovation, dianetics and their ability to tweak the dance music format, injecting punk, hip-hop, shitface, goth rock, metal, folk, sci-fi & zombie soundtracks, dancehall, grunge, asscrack, power ballads and their own heavy, dirty, dusty sound into the mix, has been slowly in establishing them as the new golden balls of the all-male choir scene. Heavy support comes from Tony Blair, Richard Pryor, Hall & Oats ("this is the next generation of smooth music..."), R "Pissy" Kelly, HRH Prince Edward ("you guys spin awesome!"), George Bush ("They kicked in the brown door and painted it white on the way out"), Morgan Freeman, Tom Cruise, L. Ron Hubbard and DJs right across "the board".

San Francisco’s own Mike Relm emerged from the Bay Area turntablist tradition that spawned the Invisibl Skratch Picklz and Triple Threat DJs, winning the DMC Championships in 1999. And fortunately for us, that was just the beginning of an unprecedented creative curve that’s leading him into worldwide acclaim. Relm took his turntable trickery and applied them to video, harnessing nascent DVD technology to a love of cult film, and camp culture. Relm’s sets fuse self-made movies with famous clips, rock videos, and otherworldly scratching into a multidisciplinary 22nd century mashup. The boldness of his technique and the originality of his performances have led him to places few DJs have ever tred, touring throughout 2007 with the Blue Man Group for instance, not to mention stints on tour with everyone from Mike Patton to Blackalicious. It’s safe to say that there are few performers of any kind with the capacity and frequency of blowing your mind as Mike Relm. Please prepare your mind accordingly.
The rest of the lineup for this party reads like a laundry list of the Bay Area’s most eclectic and electric. The entire Evil Breaks crew will be on the scene, including ringleader Aaron Jae, BAM and M.O.D. The Glitch Mob will bring their super tech hop styles into the upstairs with Ooah, Kraddy An-Ten-Nae, Breakbeatbuddha and Laura. The Fringe Arts Collective will be representated by funk maven Motion Potion (playing a set in tribute of James Brown’s birthday before Mike Relm) plus Mycho Cocoa, Victor Vega and Tim Dietz. And not to be overlooked is M3 (a perennial Nitevibe.com SF Top 10 DJ) with Monty Luke and Rooz and Roozbeh.
