ELLE Dead Sex
New York based artist ELLE Dead Sex has the following to say about her art:
“My inspiration for creating street art lies in the search for the perfect human skin; both figuratively and literally. I am working to understand how, why and with what we, as humans, choose to adorn our bodies and what those things represent. My work has to do with the circle of life and regeneration, like the process of the peyote ceremony (ie- the puking lamb ladies) who purge out all of the evil spirits after ingesting the (actually quite toxic) cactus. I like to consider reincarnation, regeneration, and the ability we have to brand and rebrand ourselves to fit into these ever- fluxing ideas of who we are, who we want to be, and what brings us to a place of peace.”
Originally drawn to djing techno music, in the past few years Brooklyn-based artist Kimyon Huggins has turned his attention increasingly towards painting. Huggins has sought to translate the ʻpure expressionʼ of his music into visual art through androgynous, primitive figuration, inspired both by the anonymous silhouettes of techno dance club-goers as well as Buddhist imagery that emphasizes the universal nature of the human spirit.
NY-based DJ/Producer known for his rumbling Basslines and world-renown remixes like his "Bass Down Low Remix" by The Cataracts ft Dev, as well as tracks by Rihanna, Havana Brown and Childish Gambino.
NYC DJ/Producer who has dominated dance floors in over 30 countries, G. Brown is known for his "Big Room" sound: mixing elements of Electro & Progressive House, Disco and Funky House music. Initially gaining notoriety by racking up high-profile residencies at legendary New York clubs like Marquee and Bungalow 8, he soon became known for his chameleon-like ability to play to any crowd, leading to prominent gigs with MTV, Dolce & Gabbana and Emporio Armani. He has also remixed such major artists as Beyonce and Adele.
A veteran DJ with strong ties to Detroit. As label boss @ Juan Atkinsʼ Metroplex Records, the worldʼs first techno label, Kimyon has been in the scene making a difference since the 90s. Known for his blistering sets of classic and cutting edge dance records, vinyl only, he is poised to keep making a difference in the local, national and global music scenes.
